COLD RUNNER

DESMA Cold Runners provide proven technology for success with quality and safe production processes

The DESMA Cold Runner design begins with a one piece, solid steel block which is then gun drilled for cooling and rubber lines. This design yields a system that is resistant to injection pressures up to 3,500 bar. All rubber transitions are made with hardened, inserted diverters which provide a seamless rubber flow channel. The combination of a solid block construction and smooth rubber transitions means there are no dead spaces in the rubber flow channel and you maintain the ability to purge a cured manifold block.

The cooling circuits for the nozzles and block are normally separated into two zones. This dual zone control gives you additional processing control when it comes to materials that are sensitive to sprue break points. The nozzle tower is designed with cooling water throughout the entire tower length, right down to the tip. Cooling in these areas dissipates heat from the mold surface and prevents pre-cured material in the tower for the next shot. The cold runner is also leak checked at temperature prior to shipment.

Additionally, the nozzle tips are a spring loaded, flat tipped design that allows for some compliance between the mold plate and nozzle tip. This compliance helps to eliminate rubber leakage between the mold plate and nozzle tip. The nozzle tower is also designed with a 鈥渃hoke鈥 used for balancing the material flow. All cold runners are balanced with the customer鈥檚 material prior to leaving the factory.
