The electrical power transmission industry relies on DESMA side inject machines for the manufacture shed insulators directly bonded to fiberglass rods used in the nations high voltage power transmission grid. DESMA developed techniques for 鈥渏ump鈥 molding that can adjust the overall length of the insulator, offering tremendous flexibility for production machinery. DESMA large volume silicone stuffers, up to 26 liters (approximately 58 lbs) can dose these systems with limited refill frequencies that contribute to uninterrupted production cycles.
A growing segment in the nation’s electrical infrastructure grid are the manufacture of underground connectors used by recharging stations for electric vehicles. DESMA has developed machinery, tooling and production systems that inject conductive and insulating materials used in these molded connections.
D 968.400 T
The specialized nature of long rod high voltage insulators are perfectly suited to the DESMA 968.560 and 700 Tv machines. This perfect fit is a result of combining stable top-acting vertical clamp units together with the ability to include large volume injection units, often with silicone stuffers. Such machines can be equipped to DESMA FlowControl cold runner technology to provide the perfect process control required for these unique articles.
D 969.400 Z (S1)
The production of elastomer high voltage cable accessories is generally a multi-step process requiring some components to be produced from conductive and others from insulative EPDM materials. Horizontal machines such as the 969.400 Z (S3) are an excellent choice for the conductive components, especially when equipped with appropriate tooling and automation systems to allow for untended molding. The insulative materials are well suited for production in vertical machines such as the 968.250 ZO Benchmark (S3) machines due to required large daylight for complex tooling packages. The vertical machines and horizontal machines can even be connected in complete workcell automation systems to greatly improve production efficiency and product quality.
