Automation
German Engineering with North American Project Management
ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ can design, build and validate complete automation solutions interface control.

Today, molders today strive for error-proof production cells as well as reduced manual labor content. DESMA Automation helps customers achieve these goals by engineering a repeatable, reproducible process that is a key to automation. Knowledge of the entire molding process is required and DESMA has the experience, technology, and mold construction insight for automated systems.
DESMA has decades of experience with robotics, vision inspection, and plate shuttling systems that work together as automated molding cells.
INTERFACE CONTROL
Our DRC 2030 control system, coupled with DESMA hydraulics provides repeatable temperature, pressure, and position of the injection molding machine. Excellent process control is crucial for the repeatable location of the rubber molded part. System repeatability is also critical for managing engineered waste and molded flash. DESMA automation then capitalizes on such repeatable attributes.
FLEXCELL AND PARTNERFLEXCELL
It is common to manipulate mold plates for process automation. For DESMA, this is possible by using various sliding devices, runner plate extension devices and high speed plate exchange systems. These systems, called FlexCell and PartnerFlexCell, provide DESMA Engineering with proven tools to design downstream automation. Using DESMA engineering data, CAD models of the machine and DESMA tooling enable engineers to create and analyze 3D simulations at a high level of detail.
TOOLING
ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½â€™s NAMC division has the experience to identify and incorporate design features into the rubber mold that allow automation to function properly. Prototype tooling built by the NAMC division can verify the mold design necessary for downstream automation. If your goal is increased productivity, reduced labor content, or a reduction of molded defects, speak with DESMA engineering about our automation systems.
END OF ARM TOOLING
DESMA designs and builds EOAT (end of arm tooling) to work with Fanuc, ABB, and other major robotic suppliers. We also have experience in vision-guided systems and can incorporate vision inspection systems such as Keyence into robotic cells with DESMA injection molding machines. DESMA can provide overall system control via our DESMA DRC 2030 TBM control system, or handshake to third-party robot controls.
DOWNSTREAM TRACEABILITY
DESMA has also worked to develop systems for downstream traceability and can incorporate this into our automated solutions when appropriate. This tracing technology, called SmartTrace, enables article traceability by product identification with a QR code or RFID chip, which stores all production-relevant process data into the actual molded part.
